1. When did you start writing?
I think I've always written. First I can remember is in like junior high though.
2. First drafts: Handwritten, typed, or some combination?
I started out handwriting, but now I type everything. I learned quickly that a pen has no hope of keeping up with my brain, especially in first draft stage. Not that even typing can, but it's got a better chance. XD
3. Do you keep any kind of notebook or writer's journal, and if so, what kinds of things go into it?
Not really. I do have a few notebooks that I throw things in when I can't sleep and don't want to turn on my computer to get ideas down. No one special notebook or journal though. Again, pretty much everything is on the computer.
4. Do you set any quotas for your work (number of words per day, number of hours per day, etc.)? Why or why not?
I really should. Then maybe more will get done. I've tried recently, but it hasn't worked out so far. I think it just makes me feel like I have to write, which sets off some sort of rebellious streak in me or something, because then I instantly don't want to do it anymore.
5. Are you most comfortable writing short stories, novels, or something else?
Short stories and poems. I started off with poetry, and the line by line sort of thinking works well for me. Short stories work pretty well too, though they tend to read quite a bit like (free form) poetry.
6. What's your favorite kind of story to write?
Anything about relationships. Any kind of relationship too. They fascinate me, how and why people interact with each other.
7. Talk about a story of yours that was easy to write and one that was difficult to write, and why.
"The Line" was pretty easy to write. It was inspired by a song, so I just put that sucker on repeat and got the whole thing down in one sitting, pretty much. Bluebird is proving to be difficult, because there's so much to tell about 5 different guys and I have no idea where to start.
8. Which of your characters is closest to your sense of self? In other words, who do you most identify with in your own work to date?
Wow that's hard to answer. I actually try to avoid having characters that are like myself, although all of them have at least one aspect of their personality that's almost exactly like an aspect of my own. When it comes to work that I have up, Ronan is probably the one I most identify with right now. Mainly his sense of responsibility and loyalty to the ones he considers family, as well as the guilt issues that he goes through.
9. What work are you most proud of right now?
"The Line". It's been my favorite pretty much since I wrote it.
10. What do you feel your strengths and weaknesses are as a writer?
I feel that I do well with internal dialogue and musing. My biggest weakness is that I just don't write enough. That, and I have no stamina. I really can't make a story last more than like 4 pages.
11. Name a few writers who have influenced you or your work in some way.
Everything I read influences me, at least temporarily. I have to avoid reading something shortly before(the same day) I write or I unconsciously imitate that author's style.
12. Talk about something you've written that you later found embarrassing for some reason.
Ha, I haven't written what I'd find embarrassing now. Not that it wasn't thought of and planned out. But it stayed in my head. Essentially, it was very Mary Sue. So it's best that it never saw fruition.
13. Talk about the earliest stories you remember writing. What were they about?
I'm gonna substitute stories for poems: Pain. Desperation. Emotional agony.
14. If you knew you would be successful, what would you most like to write?
My gay boys drama, in comic and soap opera form. (As it would best be told) XD
15. What inspires you?
Music, a lot of times. What if questions and situations. Again, relationships. Inspiration tends to strike like lightning for me though, very quick and powerful, but gone just as fast.
16. How many projects do you tend to work on at once?
Since everything so far as been rather short, I tend to start and then finish one project before I even get an idea for another. I have 3 more long term things going right now though, and more than a dozen ideas and half formed pieces sitting in a folder, waiting for me.
17. Who reads your work before it's released to the public? Do you have beta readers, a critique group, etc.?
Whoever I can get. XD No really, I do get at least one person to read over my work before I post it somewhere. Lately it's been two friends of mine from college who I can trust to give me honest feedback. My poems don't usually get read over by anyone but me before posting though. I think it's because I don't see poetry as having to conform to some sort of rules or standard, at least not like I would consider my (fan)fiction does. It's much more emotional and direct, not bogged down by grammar or having to make sense.
18. When you're not writing, what do you do for fun?
Depends on what mood I'm in. I go through periods where I primarily have just one past time I go to, such as reading, playing computer games, playing PS2 games, or playing my Sims2. When I'm in the mood for one of those, I don't really do any of the other things. I'm now working on cosplay all the time though, and I'm also trying to get better at coloring (with colored pencils at the moment) and soon, photography.
19. Advice to other writers?
Just write. Yeah, bit hypocritical of me, but I know it's really important. Doesn't matter if you think what came out was crap, just do it, and eventually you'll come up with something good. That, and get feedback as often as possible. There's so many times that you think you're coming across one way or make perfect sense, but another person has no idea what's going on or has a completely different impression than what you intended.
20. What are you currently working on?
Currently going through my scraps and ideas I've set aside because I'm just not able to get anywhere on my other, main projects. The ones I'm putting off for now are my Bluebird story, and another fantasy one that isn't named. Oh, and really trying to hammer out a fanfic with a friend.
21. Share the first three sentences of a work in progress.
There are times in your life where you dont realize how dead youve been every day of your life until that moment. When youre conscious of every damned breath you take and the sounds are louder and the heat is overwhelming and you can actually taste the air. You dont realize how much of a fog youve been walking in until you get to that moment, and you wonder how the hell youd managed to live blind for so long.
(I've got no idea what that is going to become. It's been sitting in my scraps forever and I'm determined to turn it into something.)
Now, all you other writers do this too! The public demands to know!

To write is to paint a landscape for the blind and compose a symphony for the deaf.
